Contact Lenses: Freedom From Glasses

There are a number of reasons to opt for contact lenses as an alternative to glasses – mainly comfort, convenience, and lifestyle. However, it is important to first determine if you are a good candidate for contact lenses. That’s where Center For Sight can help.

Contact Lens Exams

A comprehensive contact lens exam is important for patients who wear contact lenses regularly, as well as for patients who may want to try them for the first time. Our highly qualified optometrists use the latest technology to assess your contact lens prescription, take your cornea and pupil measurements, and test your tear film quality to determine if you are a good candidate for contact lenses.

Contact Lens Fittings

After your contact lens exam, we will fit you with a pair of contact lenses, based on the parameters we determined during your contact lens exam. Once you have had a chance to try them, we will bring you back to check for comfort, fit, and visual acuity.

Not all contact lenses are right for everyone – and it may take a couple tries until we find contact lenses that are best suited to you. However, together we will find the most effective lenses for your eyes.

Contact Lens Materials

Advancements in contact lens technology and materials have come a long way. There are several types of contact lens materials readily available. We will help to determine which will be ideal for you.

Soft Lenses

Typically the most common type of contact lenses, soft lenses, are made up of hydrogels or silicone hydrogels – very thin and pliable polymers that contain water and are permeable to oxygen. Soft lenses come in a range of types, from extended-wear to daily disposable, and more.

Rigid Gas Permeable Lenses

Rigid gas permeable lenses are less popular, but remain a viable option for patients who require astigmatism correction and stable, crisp, clear vision.

Every eye is different and therefore may have very different contact lens requirements. That’s precisely why we offer a number of specialty contact lenses – for patients with astigmatism, dry eyes, irregular corneas, and more. These include toric, multifocal, scleral, and ortho-k contact lenses.
