Specialty Contacts

Not All Contact Lenses Are Created Equal

In addition to spherical contact lenses to correct myopia and hyperopia, Center For Sight offers a number of specialty contacts for patients who suffer from astigmatism, presbyopia, keratoconus, and a range of other eye conditions.

Specialty Contact Lenses

Designed for patients with astigmatism, toric lenses contain different prescriptions along the horizontal and vertical axes to correct the irregular focus of the eyes.

In order for toric lenses to properly correct an astigmatic refraction, they must remain stable on the eye. For this reason, toric lenses are weighted to prevent rotation.

Multifocal contact lenses feature two or more prescriptions on one lens and are most often prescribed to individuals with presbyopia.

Much like progressive eyeglasses, multifocal contact lenses provide the ability to view both distant and near objects within the same lens. Multifocal lenses can either be concentric or aspheric in design, differing in how the prescription transitions are constructed. We’ll be sure to recommend the correct multifocal lens for you.

Specially made for patients with “hard to fit” eyes, corneal irregularities such as keratoconus or dry eye syndrome, scleral lenses are rigid gas permeable lenses that are extra large in diameter, resting on the sclera, the white of the eye, and vaulting over the corneal surface. Their unique shape and fit make them an excellent choice for many difficult to fit patients.

Used for myopia control, orthokeratology, or Ortho-K lenses are rigid gas permeable contact lenses that reshape the curvature of the cornea while sleeping. Ortho-K lenses are worn overnight and removed the next morning, resulting in clear vision the entire day, without the need for glasses or contacts.

Whether you are considering contact lenses for the first time, your current lenses are no longer working for you, or you want to see what else is available, we can help.
